What is a Rigid Impeller Feeder?
The GY Rigid Impeller Feeder, also commonly referred to as a rotary valve or rotary airlock, is a volumetric feeding device designed specifically for handling dry powders and small granules. Its core mechanism relies on a rotating impeller to transfer material uniformly from an upper hopper to downstream equipment while simultaneously maintaining a reliable airtight seal.
Operating Principle
Power transmission begins with a BLY cycloidal reducer connected directly to the main shaft via a coupling, which drives the continuous rotation of the shaft and impeller. Material enters through the top inlet, filling the pockets between the rotating blades, and is carried downward to be discharged via gravity into the downstream system.
To ensure stable operation, the installation and positioning must meet the following technical requirements:
- Vertical Installation Only: The equipment must be installed vertically; horizontal installation is strictly prohibited.
- Consistent Material Head: The upper hopper must maintain a constant material height to ensure the impeller pockets fill completely during operation.
Structural Design & Core Layout
The main assembly consists of a rugged housing, an impeller rotor, and end covers, engineered to minimize maintenance and maximize component lifespan.
- Flush Rubber Sealing: The blade tips feature rubber sealing strips secured by clamping plates that run perfectly flush against the interior housing wall to prevent air leakage and dust emissions.
- Direct Drive System: The direct-coupled BLY cycloidal reducer minimizes the overall machine footprint and maximizes transmission efficiency without complex linkages.
- Outboard Bearings: Both the reducer and bearing blocks are mounted externally away from the housing. This layout eliminates dust contamination in the bearings and prevents material jamming.
